I'm finding the kindle more and more attractive myself. I grow weary of reading books on my monitor (as I am mostly reading technical paper and the like) that I have downloaded. They seem to mostly come in PDF form. The kindle would make these portable..I could read in bed, on the couch, on the plane.

I don't like the idea of a proprietary device though. Yes the ability to go 'online' for free though the device and quickly purchase and download from Amazon is neat. But just like the Ipod (even though I do have one and am used to it) I have to use their interface and just don't like it.

When a device comes out that lets me wirelessly network with my home machine (even better if that was accessible from anywhere!) I think I'll go for it.

I have held one by the way. What go me first? The screen. It is the next best thing to a book. No glare, no backlight. Nice.

Oh, and there is a new Kindle coming out...http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/07/15/kindle-20-coming-around-october-2008/
